Things I’m Done Doing
Going along with things that compromise my values.
Saying “thank you” at the end of emails when I don’t actually mean it.
Inconveniencing myself to avoid disappointing someone else.
Taking everything so seriously.
Doing tasks that drain me on a physical, mental, and/or emotional level.
Putting value into small things that will not have an impact on my life one week, one month, or one year from now.
Avoiding eye contact with people who make me feel uncomfortable.
Allowing anyone to make me feel uncomfortable in the first place.
Ignoring my intuition.
Trying to make anyone do anything, ever.
Saying “I’m sorry” when I don’t really mean it.
Prioritizing my opinion over pure listening.
Constantly putting the needs of others above my own.
Spending money on things other people want me to have and/or do.
Cancelling plans just because a friend cannot join me.
Having unexpressed expectations of people.
Doing anything simply because it is routine and/or comfortable.
Letting self-consciousness prevent me from trying new things.
Making circumstances sound better or worse than they actually are.
Saying anything that is meant to demonstrate how right I am.
Ignoring my body’s signals.
Letting my phone control my life.
Putting effort into making things sound good.
Holding back “I love you” when I really feel called to say it.
Minimizing myself to make people feel more comfortable.
Saying “yes” when I really want to say “no.”
Saying “no” when I really want to say “yes.”
